Marcher Sound Started in the 80's as the ILR station for North East Wales and Cheshire

In the 90's the AM frequency was used for Marcher Gold while the FM service became MFM

 

Later the FM frequencies would split into 2 services, 103.4 for Chester, Wexham and North Wales, and 97.1 for The Wirral (the transmitter site for 97.1 was moved from Moel-y-Parc in North Wales to Storeton on the Wirral)

MFM 103.4 remains while MFM 97.1 is now known as Wirral's Buzz 97.1 (details here)
