On Monday 21st September, XFM Manchester will make way for Radio X, a brand new national radio station playing the best fresh rock and guitar-based music across the UK.
Radio X will feature Chris Moyles from 06.30 for Breakfast, Vernon Kay on mid-mornings, Johnny Vaughan at drive and Kaiser Chiefs’ front man Ricky Wilson at weekends.
A number of changes will happen in the Manchester area. Firstly, XFM Manchester will close as a local radio station and be replaced by the new national station. This means that local shows such as Tim Cocker’s breakfast show, Clint Boon’s drivetime show and Gareth Brooks weekend show will end – all replaced by the new national programming on Radio X. Clint Boon will stay on to present a new national weekend show on the new Radio X
So, from 21st September in Manchester:
97.7 FM will switch from carrying XFM Manchester to Radio X
Radio X will be available nationally on DAB (on the Digital 1 National Multiplex)
The current local XFM Manchester DAB slot will be replaced by Gold (also on 1458 AM in Manchester)
